Terms of service

What the service is

Million Coins Project estimates the grade of a coin from photographs using a statistical model, and reports that estimate together with its uncertainty. It is a screening tool. It is not a certification, an appraisal, or an offer to buy or sell, and it does not replace examination by a professional grading service. Grades from the model can and do differ from grades assigned by PCGS, NGC, or any other service, and from what a human would assign in hand.

Your account

You need an account to grade coins. Keep your sign-in to yourself and use the service only for lawful purposes. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service, attempt to circumvent limits, or scrape it.

Credits, plans, and payments

Your content

You keep ownership of your photos. You grant us the rights needed to store them, grade them, show them back to you, and, only if you leave the training option on, to use them to improve the model. Photos you submit must be yours to submit.

Sharing

Shared grade links are public to anyone who has the link. You are responsible for where you post them. Represent results honestly: quote the range and the uncertainty, not just the most likely grade.

Browser extension

The extension shows estimates on listings you are already viewing. It is provided for your personal use in evaluating listings and must not be used to build datasets from listing sites or in violation of those sites' terms.

No warranty, limited liability

The service is provided as is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for decisions made in reliance on an estimate, including purchases, sales, or grading submissions, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; material changes are announced on the site. Questions go through the report form.
